Accredited Exercise Physiologist Services (AEP)

What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)?

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified health professional who specializes in the delivery of exercise, lifestyle, and behavioral modification programs for the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries. AEPs hold a minimum of a four-year degree and are recognized by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Their extensive training allows them to understand the complexities of chronic conditions and tailor individualized exercise programs to enhance physical health and well-being.
Collaboration with Medical Professionals

Accredited Exercise Physiologists work closely with a wide range of medical professionals, including General Practitioners (GPs), physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive care. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that all aspects of a patient’s health are considered, allowing for the most effective treatment plans. Through this collaboration, AEPs help bridge the gap between medical advice and practical implementation, ensuring patients receive cohesive and effective care.

What Makes Accredited Exercise Physiologists Different?

1. Evidence-Based Practice: AEPs use the latest research and evidence-based practices to design and implement exercise programs.
2. Chronic Disease Expertise: AEPs are specially trained to work with individuals who have chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and more.
3. Individualised Programs: Each exercise plan is tailored to the individual’s specific needs, goals, and health status.
4. Holistic Approach: AEPs consider the physical, psychological, and social aspects of health to create comprehensive programs that improve overall well-being.
5. Qualified and Accredited: AEPs undergo rigorous training and must meet strict accreditation standards set by ESSA.
